The Aero Club was founded on April 6, 1930 by Giuseppe Ghislanzoni, a pilot from Como who fell into the First World War. It has the widest variety of seaplane fleet of Europe and operates in a location and area of great interest; includes all types of modern seaplanes and some seaplanes of the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s. The Aero Club Como flight school, named in the European field as I-RF / 025, is the oldest seaplane flying club in the world and is also home to the only seaplane flying school in Europe. Beyond its role as pilot trainer and center of scientific-technical and historical culture, it carries out a series of operations and services for the benefit of the community, particularly useful and therefore required in case of disasters or extreme hydrogeological events.
